Advanced Mathematics Support Programme
Introduction to the Maths of AI
https://amsp.org.uk/teachers/maths-into-ai-programme/maths-into-ai-teacher-programme/introduction-to-the-maths-of-ai/
Thursday 18th June – 6pm to 7.30pm plus optional 30 min Q&A after (so 6-8pm in total)
FREE to state-funded teachers.
Although this is a webinar aimed at Maths A level teachers (which will reference A Level Maths content) Computing teachers are welcome too (and there will also be other future events for CS teachers too, see end).
“Artificial intelligence (AI) is a topic that captures students’ interest, but many are unaware of the important role mathematics and data skills play in its development.
Our Introduction to the Maths of AI webinar introduces teachers to some of the key mathematical and statistical ideas that underpin machine learning and AI, showing how these connect to content from A level Mathematics and A level Further Mathematics.
Through a range of accessible examples, the webinar will explore how data analysis, modelling and mathematical reasoning are used in AI and highlight opportunities to link these ideas to the A level curriculum. It is designed for teachers who want to build their confidence in discussing the mathematical foundations of AI and help students see the relevance of their studies in a real-world context. An optional 30-minute question and answer session will follow the webinar.“
When you click on the link above and register for the event the first thing you’ll be asked to do is sign up for a free MyMEI account using your school or college email address.
Future courses aimed more at Computer Science teachers
Maths into AI Programme
Helping students and teachers understand how maths underpins data science, machine learning and AI, and where it can lead.
https://amsp.org.uk/teachers/maths-into-ai-programme/
“The Maths into AI programme supports students and teachers to build confidence in the maths behind data science and artificial intelligence (AI).
It shows how mathematics underpins machine learning and AI, helping learners and teachers understand the relevance of these skills for further study, teaching and future careers.
The student programme offers courses which build on MEI’s popular Data Science Courses. Our Maths into Data Science and AI course is offered for both A level students and students who are studying other level 3 programmes with a mathematical content, such as Core Maths, A level Computer Science or A level Statistics.
For teachers, the programme offers professional development that explores the mathematics behind data science and AI, with courses designed for both A level Mathematics teachers and Computer Science teachers.”
