The Computing Progression Pathways suggests that at the red level, on the theme of Communication & Networks, a student should demonstrate that he/she:
- Knows the names of hardware e.g. hubs, routers, switches, and the names of protocols e.g. SMTP, iMAP, POP, FTP, TCP/IP, associated with networking computer systems. (Abstraction)
- Uses technologies and online services securely, and knows how to identify and report inappropriate conduct. (Algorithmic Thinking)

- When pop star Madonna took to the stage at Brixton Academy in 2001 for a rare appearance she made Internet history and caused more that a little Internet misery.
