The annual Christmas Lectures for young people take place in the Royal Institution’s Faraday Lecture Theatre. They’re recorded by the BBC and broadcast during the Christmas holiday season (and available on the BBC iPlayer later).

This year the lectures will also be livestreamed to a variety of venues around the UK and Queen Mary University of London is one of them! We’ll be screening the livestream at the People’s Palace in Mile End and also at the Neuron Pod (Centre of the Cell) in Whitechapel. Other venues around the UK will also be screening the livestream.

This page provides information to teachers, parents and home educators about how to get free tickets to attend one or more of the lectures.

Note that if you want to attend each all three lectures you will need to register for a ticket for each of them separately.

The recordings will take place from 6pm and be finished by 8.30pm on these days –

Doors open at 5.30pm. We would ask that everyone is seated by a few minutes before 6pm. You will not be recorded (you won’t be on screen – the event is more like watching a film at the cinema). We might take some photos from the back of the room but you won’t be identified. We’ll ask you to sit nearer the front so that latecomers can be accommodated at the back of the room.
