Introducing Primary Puzzles Issue 1: watch out for little green booklets!

❇️ Our first free Primary Puzzle book is currently winging its way to subscribing UK schools and home educators so please keep an eye out for something that looks like this ⬇️ arriving in your post this week from the CS4FN team.

Our main page for all the primary-aged puzzles and puzzle books will be at the link below.

Printed copies of Primary Puzzle Book 1

The booklets contain number puzzles, spot the difference, a data pattern puzzle, kriss-kross puzzles and colour by number pixel puzzles. While each type of puzzle is fun to do by itself it can also help to introduce a computing concept and things that computers or computer scientists do (for example using logic, attention to detail, representing data, compressing data).

You can download the booklet as a PDF, though it will need to be printed for children to complete the puzzles and we have the puzzle solutions here. We also have a couple of certificates for you to print as well (one for anyone who’s attempted some of the puzzles and one for anyone who’s completed all the puzzles) – we’d love to see photos of your certificates (but recommend hiding the child’s name first). We’re @cs4fn on Twitter (and similar on Mastodon and BlueSky).

Here’s what’s in the first Primary Puzzle booklet.

We’re currently working on the second in the primary puzzle series: Puzzle Book 2. If you’re not already a UK-based subscribing school / library or home educator please use the green form here to sign up to receive copies.
