Around 18,000 print copies of our sixth free issue of A Bit of CS4FN (aimed at primary school age children, 8-12) will soon be arriving at our subscribing UK schools, libraries and home educators – and everyone can read it online or download a PDF copy (free) from the CS4FN website.

If you’d like a sneak preview check out this incredibly professional video that I (Jo) created in iMovie which is bundled with Mac computers. There are exciting transitions between every page!
This issue looks at how computer scientists and musicians are working together to use artificial intelligence (AI) to analyse, preserve and even recreate lost music. It is part of our suite of free magazines intended to help teachers and home educators inform and inspire young children about the possibilities of computer science (and music!). We are big fans of interdisciplinarity at CS4FN (Computer Science For Fun) and Teaching London Computing.
The magazine also has a linked puzzle (online) and a couple of music and sound related games – we hope you enjoy it.
This was created by the Music & AI team* from Queen Mary University of London’s Centre for Digital Music (C4DM) and the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) and designed by Kelly Burrows. It was funded by the EPSRC’s / UKRI’s AI Skills Pipeline and EECS.
